Frequently Asked Questions
-
Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that treats each hair follicle individually using a tiny, sterile probe. A small amount of energy is delivered to the follicle to stop future hair growth. It is the only hair removal method recognized by the FDA as permanent.
-
Electrolysis works on all hair colors and all skin tones, including blonde, red, gray, and white hair that laser cannot treat.
Laser reduces hair, but does not permanently remove every follicle.
Electrolysis treats each follicle directly, making it ideal for small areas, stubborn regrowth, or precision shaping.
-
Yes. Once a follicle is treated effectively, it cannot produce hair again. Multiple treatments are needed to kill all the hair germ cells in the follicle, since hair grows in cycles, this takes time to achieve. Consistency is key to achieving permanency.
-
Yes, electrolysis can eliminate all hair growth, including hair caused by PCOS/hormonal imbalances. As long as your hair growth is stable, we can completely remove all the unwanted hair.
-
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick heat or pinch. Comfort varies by area and individual sensitivity. Settings can be adjusted to keep you comfortable and topical numbing creams and/or a mild pain reliever can be used if needed.
I recommend seeing how treatments feel before adding any pain relief.
-
Treatment plans vary based on:
The area being treated
Hair density and thickness
Hormonal influences
Your consistency with appointments
Most clients visit weekly or biweekly at first, then less often as growth decreases.
-
Sessions can range from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on the area and your goals. Smaller areas like the upper lip or chin may require shorter, more frequent visits. Sessions are offered in 15-minute increments ranging from 15-120 minutes. The maximum amount of time for thermolysis on the upper lip is 30 minutes. If you are unsure how long of an appointment to book, please reach out.
-
Yes. When performed by a trained, certified electrologist, electrolysis is safe, hygienic, and effective. Sterile, single‑use probes are always used, and equipment is disinfected according to professional standards.
-
Electrolysis can be performed on almost any area of the body, including:
Face (chin, upper lip, brows, cheeks)
Underarms
Bikini line
Abdomen
Back
Fingers and toes

We always recommend following your doctors’ opinion when it comes to your medical care. It is generally accepted to be safe on the face during pregnancy. If you’re thinking of starting electrolysis treatments and you’re already pregnant, we recommend waiting until after to start treatment. If you’re already getting electrolysis treatments and get pregnant, we will continue treatment, as long as your doctor approves and we are just working on the face.
-
Yes. Electrolysis is often recommended for hair growth caused by hormonal changes, PCOS, menopause, or genetics. Consistency is key for best results.

Allow 2-3 days hair growth. We need enough length to grab the hair with tweezers, about 2mm.
Stress, smoking, caffeine, alcohol, and menstruation all decrease your pain tolerance.
Stop tweezing, waxing, or threading asap.
Make sure to stay hydrated and moisture your skin.
Come in with freshly cleaned skin, free from makeup and skincare products (numbing cream is okay).
If you are getting a dense area treated (bikini, back, underarms), make sure to trim the hair prior to treatment. Hair can be kept between 2mm to 20mm.
For your first treatment, I recommend seeing how it feels before adding numbing cream or a pain reliever.

Mild redness or swelling is normal and usually fades within a few hours. Aftercare may include:
Apply witch hazel, aloe vera, and bacitracin as needed.
To reduce redness and swelling, apply ice pack to treated area for 5-10 seconds on and off for 15-20 minutes.
Protect treated area from sunlight for 48 hours and wear sunscreen.
Drink plenty of water before and after treatment.
Skip cosmetics and skincare products for 24 hours.
Do not tweeze, wax, or thread.
Avoid touching the treated area and dusty/dirty environments to reduce the risk of infection. Your pores are open for 48 hours after treatment.
Avoid friction, excessive heat, hot water, and sweating for 24 hours.
If you develop white pustules (from bacteria) dissolve 1 tbsp epsom salt in warm water and apply to affected area with a clean cloth.

During your consultation we will go over your health history and address any concerns you may have. A customized treatment plan will be created for your specific hair removal goals.
Allow a few days hair growth (if shaving) and stop tweezing/waxing/threading asap so we can properly assess your hair.
Your treatment will start with your skin being wiped off with an antiseptic. Your hair will be assessed to determine the size of the probe. You should not feel the needle in the hair follicle, the only thing you should feel is the current being delivered, killing the hair. After your treatment you will be wiped down with an antiseptic again, and aloe vera gel will be applied. We have ice packs available for you to take home so you can be icing the area immediately.
-
Yes. Shaving does not interfere with electrolysis. We do need about 2mm (2-3 days growth) in order to treat the hair. Avoid tweezing, waxing, threading, or epilating, as these remove the follicle and disrupt treatment progress.
-
Absolutely. Because electrolysis targets the follicle directly—not pigment—it is safe and effective for every skin tone.

Pricing is based on session length. Many clients start with longer, more frequent sessions and transition to shorter, less frequent ones as growth decreases.
